CCN OnlineFirst articles are posted online after they have been accepted and copyedited and their authors have reviewed galley proofs, but before the final version is published in print and electronic form in a future issue of the journal. These OnlineFirst or "publish ahead of print" articles may not appear in the printed issue in the order they were published online, and not all manuscripts accepted by CCN will be published as OnlineFirst articles. Minor corrections may be made between an article's OnlineFirst release and the time a final printed version is published.
OnlineFirst articles are indexed and citable. The official publication date is the date the article was first released online, which is available at www.ccnonline.org/onlinefirst. CCN OnlineFirst articles are assigned digital object identifier (DOI) numbers, which are unique and permanent identifiers used for intellectual property in the digital environment. DOI numbers appear on the bottom of the first page of an CCN article. The final version of the articles will have the same DOI number as the prepublished version.
